Faith Without Works is a Dead Faith

Many people believe that when James spoke to "works" in his epistle, he was referring to "Jewish Law"; however, this is most definitely not the case.

In verse 2:19, James states the following:

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe."

So what sets us apart from demons who also believe in Jesus and tremble? Consider verses 21-26 below:

"But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and NOT BY FAITH ONLY. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

Did James misinterpret the teachings of his half brother and Raboni, Jesus? Were James and Paul in opposition to one another? No, of course not but the Devil would have you believe this!

In all areas of the New Testament, we are taught and commanded to DO (ACTIVITY) specific things and to live a certain way and to repent and be separate from this world and more like Christ. Read what Paul taught about living a Holy Life as a new creation in Christ (Colossians 3).

Hall of Fame

I'm not a sports fan, but I flipped over to the 2008 NFL Hall of Fame (no particular reason). Both Darrell Green and Art Monk blew me away with their speeches, especially Mr. Green. Wow!!
